Maritorio

Through Maritorio, IWF begins where most policy processes do not: with the futures communities can imagine for themselves.

It asks coastal communities in Patagonia what the future looks like from where they stand — not as a symbolic exercise, but as a starting point for knowledge creation, institutional learning, and policy action.

From there, IWF helps turn situated futures into research questions, public resources, decision tools, and institutional pathways.

What Maritorio does

• —maps territorial knowledge, actors, and decisions across land and sea;
• —translates scientific and local knowledge into shared, usable material;
• —runs community futures work with coastal communities in Patagonia;
• —develops decision tools and governance pathways with public institutions;
• —returns results publicly, in open and accessible formats.

Status

Maritorio is in development. We are building the partnerships, funding, and institutional collaborations that will carry the first pilot.
